Liver metabolic zonation

Liver metabolic zonation is the spatial organization of hepatocyte functions essential for liver homeostasis and metabolism, where zone 1 (z1) cells produce albumin and urea, and zone 3 (z3) cells exhibit elevated glutamine secretion and cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme activity.
